Suzi Reese

Dear LLYC members,

As many of you have heard by now, Suzi Reese died on Sunday, June 28. Suzi was a dear friend to so many on Long Lake and all of us will feel her absence. She never missed an opportunity to help others. If you asked for anything, the answer was always yes. For years, Suzi opened her home for numerous yacht club events. She selflessly offered her knowledge and experience to improve our sailing program, especially for the kids. In short, Suzi loved Long Lake and always wanted to make it better. Read on for Suzi's official obituary.

LLYC Spring Metting Format Change

LLYC Spring Metting Format Change

Dear LLYC Members,

Greetings and welcome to the beginning of an exciting sailing season for 2020!

Unfortunately, as most of you know, we are in the middle of a lock-down order by the governor in response to the COVID-19 virus and we don’t yet have a date for when this will be lifted. This means hosting the spring meeting in the traditional way is not feasible at this time. For this reason, we have decided to move the meeting to an online and over the phone conference call.

While I know everyone is disappointed in the decision, the LLYC officers feel that it is necessary for the safety of the club and its members. We certainly will miss seeing everyone’s smiling faces after the long winter absence. But on a positive note, we can still hear your voices and hopefully…

Weekend Updates

Hello LLYC!!

Congratulations to Joe Popeck and Maceo Ringa for a fantastic showing at Beulah this week! They both cracked top 10 finishes. Joe matched his best race with back to back 3rds, and Maceo got a 5th!

This weekend is the June Party at Pistakee. Please RSVP to Jen Sundberg (630)-251-3817 if you haven’t already.

Also, the 4th of July is around the corner, and Morgan can use all the donations he can get. If you prefer to send him a check, he would prefer the check this week because he is shopping for the fireworks on Monday. Please have your money ready by the Sunday beer party at the latest. Handing him a check at the 4th of July beer party will not do him any good. The more you send, the better the show!

Have a great week, and see you out on the water!

Danny Madden

LLYC Updates

Hello LLYC!

After a week off of sailing, there are a few friendly reminders. The races this weekend do count even though the C trophy is the Kercher-Stay-At-Home. The Kercher-Stay-At-Home is registered as a counted race this year. There is also NO Beer Party this weekend.

Morgan is also preparing for his annual 4th of July firework show! Last year we had $5,000 worth of donations which made the show amazing! The more you donate, the better the show. You can donate to Morgan via check, cash, or Venmo. Please see…

June Party!

Happy Friday LLYC!

So great to be back to the summer/sailing season! I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. We didn’t have any sailing on Sunday, but the beer party made up for the lack of wind. Thank you to the Popeck’s, Becker’s, Mottlau’s, and Ron Gurak for throwing such a great party! The next beer party will be at The Wiener’s with Pitts, Damien, Gilleland, and Ripley.

I would like to thank Jennifer Sundberg and The Johnson’s who helped organize the June Party this year. Attached is all the details to the party. The party is on Saturday, June 29th. The cost of the party is $35 and that includes salad, all you can eat wood fire pizza, a…

Website Updated for the 2019 Season

The website should be updated for the season with a new standings sheet for both the MC and C fleets. Additionally, the website now contains a list of upcoming beer parties, yacht club events, and regattas under our calendar tab. If any information is missing or inaccurate, please feel free to contact webmaster@llyc.us and I’ll be able to fix it pretty quick.

A Message from the Commodore

Greetings All LLYC Members,

It's almost unbelievable how quickly our sailing season and summer has "blown" by!  This Labor Day weekend is our last weekend for Long Lake sailing and regularly scheduled LLYC activities. Another season for the great LLYC!

The 2018 year has certainly been a busy one for us all.

Following the Trophy Banquet, we lost our lost our beloved Norman Reese but were blessed with two new little ones as well as new C and Junior members. Kerchers rang in the holiday season for us with a LLYC party filled with fun and plenty of goodies. Our Dues Committee recommended adjusting the annual membership dues and the club voted with an official ballot to move forward with the changes.  The bylaws were officially changed and…
