Midwest Invitational Regatta - C Class 


1. Rules

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

2. Entries

Competitors may enter by paying $100. Late fee of $125 after June 1 to Long Lake Yacht Club and mailed or delivered to Regatta Headquarters before 9:00AM on June 8, 2024.

3. Notices to Competitors

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located at Regatta Headquarters.

4. Signals Made Ashore

Signals made ashore will be displayed from the flagpole located at regatta headquarters.  If a postponement is signaled ashore, the warning signal will be made not less than 30 minutes after flag AP is lowered.

5. Schedule and Class Flags

A competitors’ meeting will be held at 9:30AM on June 8th, 2024 at regatta headquarters or on radio channel 72. Five Races are scheduled, the warning signal for the first race will be at 10:30am on Saturday June 8. Except when races are sailed back-to-back, the approximate time of warning signals for subsequent races will be posted. One race constitutes a regatta. No warning signal will be made after 1:00pm, Sunday June 9th if at least one race was completed. 

6. Racing Area

The racing area will be on navigable waters of Long Lake, IL. 

7. Courses and Marks

The course[s] will be Windward-Leewards. The course will be designated by a black letter on a white board. All marks will be orange balls. 

8. Starting and Finishing Lines

The starting and finishing lines will be between boat with orange flag and either a boat with orange flag or starting buoy. The leeward gate marks may be to windward or leeward of the starting line but in place at the time of the start. Rule 26 starting sequence will be employed.

9. Time Limit

The time limit for each race will be 75 minutes for the first boat to finish.

10. Protests

Protests shall be delivered to regatta headquarters within 45 minutes after the race committee finish boat docks. The protest time limit and a list of protests received will be posted on the notice board. Hearings will be held as soon as practicable after racing each day at regatta headquarters. 

11. Scoring

Five races are scheduled. All scores will count.
